Blue Heron Dance Program, founded in 1989, is the oldest and most established dance program on Vashon Island.  Based on an international pre-professional syllabus Blue Heron Dance offers sequential training in Ballet and Modern by highly qualified instructors with extensive backgrounds in both teaching and performing (see bios).

Blue Heron Dance takes care in creating healthy, fit dancers.  Focus is on fulfilling the individual regardless of shape, size or technical ability. Body awareness, confidence and joy of movement shape curriculum.  Teachers communicate in a positive, loving manner and encourage dancers to grow technically at an appropriate, individualized pace.

Blue Heron Dance Company (BHDC) founded in 1999, by current Artistic Director, Christine Juarez, is the performing arm of Blue Heron Dance.  The mission of BHDC is to present classical ballet and other original works in two annual performances.  Students enrolled in Ballet 2-6, Modern and Hip Hop are eligible for the Company which practices once a week.
