A little more about us

Vashon Allied Arts was formed in 1966 as a non-profit arts organization.

Over the years, VAA has continued to develop a comprehensive array of programs and services, including a gallery, performance program, class program, Artists in Schools program, the Heron's Nest art and craft gallery and Island View, a monthly publication of community arts events. VAA owes much of its success to the hundreds of volunteers who donate thousands of hours out of their love for the arts and the community.

VAA has acquired and improved a number of facilities to meet the demand of our growing programs. Built in 1912, the Blue Heron Art Center serves as VAA's administrative center, a hub for cultural activities in the community.

In 2003, VAA began renting space at the historic Beall Greenhouses for a community pottery studio. VAA also purchased a property adjacent to the Blue Heron, which now houses a painting studio and additional classroom space.

Thank you for your continued support!
